Indian Classical) Music, which is more than 450 years old. Right from the days of Haji
Sujaan Khan, (Court Musician of Akbar, the Moghul Emperor) the founder of Agra Gharana,
the music (Vocal) came from father to son till now, the very present days.
I am the 14th direct descendent of Agra
Gharana.

I Started
learning vocal North Indian Classical from my father Ustad Vilayat Khan Saheb at the age
of 14, when I joined the High School in 1950. I also learnt from my maternal Uncle Ustad
Azmat Hussain Khan, (Khurja Atrauli Gharana.), Ustad Sharafat Hussain Khan my
brother-in-law, my elder Brother Ustad Yunas Hussain Khan and Ustad
Khadim Husain Khan.

Twice I
represented Aligarh University in Youth Festival at Talkatora Garden, as a Vocalist in
1958-59 and 1959-60. I gave my Vocal performance before Mr. V.V.Giri, the Vice President
of India. I was also invited by Nawab of Ranpur, in 1960-61. After listening to me he was
very pleased with me and so was I because it was my first experience before such
dignitors, and I was young inexperienced at that time. In 1972 I gave my performance at
the court of Sanand, Maharaj of Sanand Near Ahmedabad. There I sang for more than Six
hours continuously.
In Bombay I gave my first performance in The year 1964 at
Haldankars Art Studio (the famous painter) There after I perform in many Mehfils.
I had also performed
at NCPA on 16th
October, 1985, Sangeet MahaBharti, 18th April, 1989, Tejpal Hall, Dadar Matunga
Cultural Centre, Geeta Mandir Hall Bharti Vidhya Bhavan Karnatak Sangh Hall, (Kala Bharti)
Ustad Allahdiya Khan Sangeet Samaroh, Chembu. And many other places. The Cities in India
where I have given my Vocal performances are Ahmedabad, Aligarh, Delhi, patna, Agra,
Durghanga, Muzaffarpur, Allahabad & Calcutta.
